Meet the Chef

Chef Sunil was born on a farm in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, where the seeds of his culinary journey were first planted. While his siblings focused on schooling and farming, young Sunil was drawn to the heart of the home—the kitchen—where his mother cooked daily meals with love, care, and an instinctive understanding of flavor. Watching her work sparked a curiosity that soon turned into a lifelong passion.
Inspired by his mother’s cooking, Sunil pursued a formal education in Culinary Management, followed by a 3-Year Government-Approved General Cook Apprenticeship. Armed with big dreams and high hopes, he stepped into the world of professional cooking—beginning his career at Le Meridien, one of Delhi’s finest 5-star hotels. It was here that his foundation in culinary excellence was solidified.
Chef Sunil’s hard work and unwavering desire to expand his knowledge brought him to Canada, where he began a new chapter. Over the past 25+ years, he has been a guiding force in the hospitality industry—contributing to the growth and success of numerous restaurants, from small family-owned eateries to large-scale operations across the country.

But throughout his journey, Chef Sunil held onto one dream:
To build a kitchen of his own—rooted in love, tradition, and vision.

That dream is now a reality. Welcome to GULAB—a culinary experience born from Chef Sunil’s heart and soul. Named after the flower that represents love and beauty, GULAB is more than just a restaurant; it’s the expression of a dream shared by Chef Sunil and his family.
